About

❤️ 🖤 Drago – The Dog Who Was Almost Lost 🖤 Drago’s life nearly ended before it truly began. He was just six weeks old when someone threw him away like rubbish — dumped in a bin, tiny, helpless, and unwanted. A baby who should have been with his mother, learning about love and safety, instead learned about cold metal and hunger. He was found and taken in by a lovely family. And Drago grew… and grew… and grew. Today he weighs around 25 kilos — a powerful, strong boy. But strength without guidance can become confusion. And confusion can become fear. Drago realised his owners were frightened of him. He didn’t understand boundaries, only that he could control situations. He became dominant. He ruled the house. And one day, when asked to do something he didn’t want to do, he bit. That was the breaking point. His family were heartbroken and desperate. They had booked him in for euthanasia. Not because they didn’t care… but because they didn’t know what else to do. They were at their wits’ end. That’s when they called us. We said we would try. When Drago arrived, he tested us. He pushed boundaries. He tried to be in charge. But for the first time in his life, someone calmly, firmly told him no — and meant it. It wasn’t a fight of anger. It was a lesson in structure. In safety. In leadership. Eventually, Drago realised something life-changing: He didn’t have to be the boss anymore. He could relax. Today, Drago is the softest boy. He sleeps on the bed. He plays gently with the pups. He enjoys his walks. He leans into you for affection like a giant baby who finally feels safe. Because of his past and his size, Drago will stay with us here at Hearts Animal Sanctuary for the rest of his life. He is a sanctuary dog. He will never be passed around again. He will never face that appointment again. But dogs like Drago are expensive to care for. Large breed food. Training. Veterinary care. Security. Everything costs more when the dog is 25 kilos. He was days away from losing his life. Now he has a future. If Drago’s story touched your heart, please consider donating to help us continue saving animals like him — the misunderstood, the abandoned, the ones others give up on. Every single euro helps. Every share helps. Every act of kindness keeps another animal alive. ❤️
